Saturday morning, the Jamestown 14-U Girls Hockey Team beat Brockport 4-2 at the championship/playoffs in Tonawanda. Kyla scored a goal! It was a good clean shot into the net from a rebound. After the game, Kyla and I went over the bridge to Fort Erie to get me a new goalie equipment bag at Don Simmons. I was surprised to find my friend Ron working, as he usually doesn't work on Saturdays. It was good to see him! (Hi, Ron!)
. Then Kyla and I went to the Walden Galleria Mall. Did some shopping. It was a nice day!
Sunday it was back to Tonawanda for a 10:30 semi-final game against Brockport again. They won, so it was off to the finals vs. Tonawanda at 5:00. In the in-between time the entire team and parents went to Montana Steakhouse for lunch. There were 30 of us and it was a blast, as usual. The team told the restaurant that it was their coach's birthday. They made him wear a fuzzy brown football helmet with moose antlers on it and then hit him in the face with whipped cream.
He's a good sport and a great coach!
The final was a heartbreaker.
They lost in sudden death overtime. Those girls played SO WELL!!!! All came down to a breakaway goal. It was a really exciting game. The lockerroom after the game was full of tears and we had to ride all the way home with a very dejected hockey player. Telling them they played the best game of the season was no consolation and just made them mad. But they came home with a trophy and medals. Way to go Laker girls!!! We're proud of you all!
The weather here today is damp and cold. It's foggy and nasty out. Welcome to the work week....
